Why do we try so hard?
To please the world
When we never can.
Worldly things will never
be fully satisfied
Because they’re chasing the superficial
They aren’t pleased with themselves
So they’ll never be pleased with others.
The world’s unrealistic expectations
wear on us.
We’re tied down by trying
so hard
to meet something we never can
Because it’s impossible
they expect something
they can’t even ever reach
How it that fair?
our Maker doesn’t expect that
and He’s the only one who should
be given that power.
Those people
we need to let go of
unless they see we can’t be perfect
and never will
beacuse we all make mistakes
everyone, no one without blame
decorated in scars, skratches, or wounds
we often try to cover up
forget where we’ve been
But those things, they don’t define us
they refine us
shape us into who we are
the world may never tell you
that you are enough
but child,
He cares
